My conversation with Ali is just one example of the countless fascinating interviews I conducted for my YouTube channel, which focuses on strange but true facts about various topics. These interviews allowed me to expose my viewers to information that would have otherwise gone unnoticed. It was satisfying, and it made me feel like I was making an impact with my channel.
Ali viewed my first guest interview as an opportunity to deliver life advice to his viewers. I was hesitant at first, but Ali’s eloquence convinced me that I could explore this concept through motivational themes. However, interviewing Ali raised some ethical considerations that I did not anticipate.
I decided to conduct an interview with him on the topic of “Is it safe or dangerous for humans to eat bananas?” (2000 words) and prepare it for public consumption on YouTube in 2021. As I reflected on the interview process and developed a plan for writing and publishing it for my audience, my curiosity got the better of me. As a result, I extended the depth and breadth of the interview by including jokes, unrelated issues, heartwarming anecdotes, spiritual baggage riddles, and fun facts about every character involved in the interview process. Pursuing a variety of topics not directly related to bananas allowed me to explore new subjects and expand my knowledge on a number of topics. Additionally, I included SEO-focused keywords throughout the video’s description and subheadings to assist more people in discovering our discussion.
However, as someone heavily invested in mental health wellbeing, it was essential to ask myself if posting stories of mental illness would benefit society. Ultimately, my decision was to publish all of Ali’s stories with his full consent – including those stories relating to mental illnesses such as “Antisocial Personality Disorder”, “Borderline Personality Disorder”, “Bipolar Disorder”, “Major Depressive Disorder”, “Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder”, “Schizophrenia”, “Seasonal affective disorder”, etc…. This decision reflected my desire to use entertainment as a means of promoting mental health education rather than stigmatizing individuals with these conditions.
